Womb Xinh contest
The theme of this contest centers around the womb—a fundamental aspect of most women. While listening to Suboi’s "Best Friend" on A Colors Show, I sought inspiration for my piece. This led me to visualize the uterus as women’s best friend—a chic, trendy, and empowering figure. The baby in her arms is making the horn hand sign, symbolizing the uplifting spirit I hope will always be there for us girls.
Stephen Little’s Understanding Art also played a significant role in my decision-making process, particularly as I read the first chapter of the book, which featured paintings of The Virgin and Child. Additionally, the crochet hat was inspired by Terrilynn Quick’s The Velvet Uterus (2010).
